The ICAR-Indian Sugarcane Research Institute (ISRI), formerly known as the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR), is located in Lucknow. It was established in 1952 by the Indian Central Sugarcane Committee and later transferred to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1969. The institute focuses on fundamental and applied research related to sugarcane cultivation and coordinates research efforts across different states.

ISRI conducts research on all aspects of sugarcane cultivation, including breeding and coordinating research across different states. The institute operates as an autonomous body under the ICAR and is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
